D.C Neighborhoods by Income

I was researching different D.C neighborhoods and came across several interesting maps compiled by Rich Blocks, Poor Blocks. The data used for the maps is a bit old, compiled from Census information between 2006 and 2010 , but it’s still interesting. Here is a general map of D.C incomes by neighborhood:

Apparently, "pure green" indicates a neighborhood with an income of at least $134,000 and "pure red" indicates a neighborhood with an income under $22,500.

I’m not sure how accurate this is, but you can see more detailed maps here.

  1. I saw this too! Got sucked into for hours!

  2. Thanks for sharing this. My dissertation is about food deserts, so I look at data like this allt he time, but this is the first I’ve seen from Rich Blocks, Poor Blocks. If you’re at all interested in food deserts, you can create maps on the USDA site. The food desert maps strongly correlate with income, as you’ve probably guessed.
